As more details continue to pour in about the nationwide Salmonella Montevideo outbreak that has sickened 184 in 38 states, it seems that health investigators are now focused on the key question: Is the source of salmonella the pepper coating on the Daniele salami or the salami itself?

California has now joined several states warning its citizens not to eat salmonella-contaminated ground beef.

As salmonella illness totals continue to rise, officials at Cargill, Inc. refuse to identify the grocery chains to which their contaminated beef was sold.

Health officials have now reported that at least 27 people have fallen ill from a Salmonella Newport outbreak that prompted the recall of more than 412 tons of ground beef.
