A Federal Bankruptcy Court in Western Virginia has set a filing deadline for claims of individuals who contracted Salmonella after consuming peanut butter-containing products such as Austin and Keebler brand peanut butter crackers and King Nut peanut butter. The filing deadline is October 31, 2009.

Health officials have now reported that at least 27 people have fallen ill from a Salmonella Newport outbreak that prompted the recall of more than 412 tons of ground beef.
