In Michigan, 3 individuals have tested positive for an identical strain of the deadly bacteria E. coli 0157:H7. A fourth individual has tested positive for E. coli, with lab results pending to confirm the strain. Yet another individual has tested negative for the bacteria, although that victim’s symptoms are consistent with E. coli poisoning. Three of the five victims are hospitalized.
Cindy Rochefort, Director of the Huron County Health Services , said that the source of the infections has not yet been found, although traceback investigations are underway.
