North Carolina Reports 65 Salmonella Egg Illnesses Linked to Recall

A North Carolina salmonella outbreak tied to Bullocks Bar B-Q in Durham, North Carolina that sickened 65 customers has now been linked to the national salmonella egg recall.

“We’re very confident the outbreak at Bullock’s caused by the commercial egg product can be traced back to eggs in this recall,” Megan Davies, North Carolina’s state epidemiologist, said Thursday.

The explosion of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses will likely expand as health department continue to tally victims whose test results have not yet been entered into the national salmonella database.
