California has now joined several states warning its citizens not to eat salmonella-contaminated ground beef.

As salmonella illness totals continue to rise, officials at Cargill, Inc. refuse to identify the grocery chains to which their contaminated beef was sold.
Last Thursday, Beef Packers, Inc. (owned by Cargill, Inc.) recalled over 400 tons of ground beef shipped this summer because of an outbreak of a drug-resistant strain of Salmonella Newport.
